Building a High-End Garden Room in South London
Case Study
With Poseidon Spaces, we wanted to deviate away from the same, standard build we’ve seen other companies do.
Our garden room design includes an a-symmetrical overhang with the arm on the right side.
This pairs the space with flare and bold sophistication.
Entertainment
Area
The purpose of this particular space was to be an entertainment area so in the architectural render, we planned it out to have:
● a kitchenette
● a seating area with tv
● a pool table
● a bathroom
We opted for an all-glass sliding door front with 20mm
sight-line sliding doors.
This embodies contemporary design language… which is a key feature in all the models in the Poseidon Spaces collection.
Exterior Walls
Front & Right
At the front and right, the exterior walls have been cladded with a premium aluminium wood-grain cladding. ’Natural oak’, that won’t fade like timber cladding.
Back & Left
The back and left have been cladded in a wood-grain composite, ‘barn wood grey’.
This popular and cost-effective option has a warm, homey, feel to it. This provides a clean, stylish look…with our supplier having their material used on high-rise, top-finish buildings.
Crafting bespoke garden rooms
LIGHTING!
The LED channel going across the facia and down the right arm accentuates the swooping shape of the building and looks only class in the dark.
We’ve also opted for internal strips and black, square-framed spots.
These give a modern, sharp look – one of the many elements of a garden room we do differently from other UK companies.
Not to forget those beautiful caged pendants covered in greenery…
Flooring
For the flooring, we created an in-to-out flow with wood effect tiles.
These were similar in colour and size to the slabs used for the patio area we created outside the garden room. (Landscaping additionally to the garden room is a task we’re accustomed to).
This makes the room feel bigger and has a great effect when the doors are open in the summer.
Compact Kitchenette
Many homes’ living spaces revolve around open-plan kitchens, so we opted for a compact kitchenette that features a concrete effect worktop, a wall-hung black glass unit and wine rack… which is a perfect little area to serve food and drinks from while you’re entertaining.
The concrete effect worktop is ultra-modern.
It contrasts charmingly against the bottle green wall paint in the kitchen area.
It also goes hand in hand with the concrete-effect coffee table we have in the middle of the seating area.
To create a visual focal point in the room, we opted for some slatted cladding.
It goes up the right wall, across the ceiling and down the back wall, casing in the kitchen area and breathing earthy vibes in the natural oak colour.
We added a skylight in the back of the room to ensure light was being let in in that area.
Being over the kitchenette worktop, makes for an inviting place to sit.
A sophisticated bathroom to made to impress
The bathroom channels sophistication with a black and brushed bronze theme. Black sanitary ware and a black shower tray give a very luxurious, polished look. They are complemented by the interior cladding seen on the reverse of the mirror.
